Scoliosis is a sideways curve of the spine, and the most common spinal deformity.
Your spine curves towards one side of your body, often creating a C or S shape, and a humpback appearance when viewed from the back. It can be mild for some, but can get more severe over time and can be extremely painful and disabling.
It is usually diagnosed during puberty, but can occur at all age groups. In the US there are more than 3 million cases per year.
What are the symptoms of scoliosis?
Symptoms of scoliosis can vary greatly from case to case, but symptoms usually include a visible difference in unequal shoulder and hip height, humpback, wry neck, twisted rib cage, shortness of breath, and pain.
What causes scoliosis?
There are many different types of scoliosis, each with a variety of causes. About 80%of all pediatric scoliosis cases are idiopathic, meaning there is actually no known cause. Other types include degenerative, congenital, and neuromuscular scoliosis.
How can Forme® help with scoliosis?
Under a physician’s recommendations, Forme’s posture wearables can improve your appearance and performance in many ways. While we cannot make any condition-specific claims, we've had great feedback from a large number of customers, physicians, and professional athletes with regards to scoliosis.
Forme’s upper body wearables (bra and tees) improve appearance and balance shoulders, increase thoracic mobility and reduce pain, while elevating your daily activities. Forme’s lower body wearables (shorts, leggings) improve hip and lower back appearance, mobility and reduce pain. The patented technology built into Forme’s sensory-free wearables is designed to engage muscle memory to pull back and balance the shoulders, balance the hips, reduce back pain, and even eliminate or reduce any daytime or nighttime brace usage. Furthermore, Forme® improves your chest expansion through posture correction, which can reduce lung compression — a key benefit for individuals with scoliosis.
